After all, you cannot know the strength of your faith until it is tested
It’d be great if you were able to weave multiple story threads together. For example, it’d be great if Stefan and Caroline ended up talking about their pasts, their feelings, about themselves…Remember that brief moment in 4x03? Why can’t it continue…even w/ the plot going on… It’d be great if the inevitable collision of their stories prompted them to push the other (because they wouldn’t be thinking about themselves) to see more clearly and confront their issues.
Remember in 4x03 when Stefan asks Caroline, basically, How do you do it? It’d be great if they had time for him to realize that she’s done it by compartmentalizing the shit out of it, by compartmentalizing herself right out of it. By disassociating as if it happened to another person altogether. I’m wanting him to take note the next time she puts her old self down, and ask her if she was so bad, why did so many people love her? I’m wanting her to challenge him in the same way, IF YOU are so bad, why do so many people still care? Why are people and other VAMPIRES drawn to you?
Defan’s issues stem from Katherine. A great issue the writers haven’t even explored between them are related to their vampire origins… Something like, the trust of protection that was broken when Damon failed to protect his little brother from his abuser, because he was to busy competing w/ him. That’s not it exactly, but it would be great if Damon grew to some point where he had an epiphany and FELT that. Obviously there’s a difference between the particulars the audience knows and sees, and how an individual character sees something. Sometimes they don’t see enough (Damon)…Damon’s the kind of character who needs to see too MUCH to get it. He tendsTo let things that could disturb a certain emotional inner-zen (guilt-wise). It would be great if Damon was confronted with what REALLY happened to his little brother, NOt from his perspective…and ultimately grew from that realization.
